I got this colony a couple years ago and it was about a quarter the size it is here. It was sold to me as a Favia for $30 at the LFS and I didn't doubt it then since it was a solid purple and wasn't very puffy so the polyps looked separate. However, now I think it is an acan echinata - it has gotten a TON of color over the past couple years, has puffed way up, and all the new polyps look attached. It went from solid purple to purple, green, orange, yellow, and blue. Right now it is a little beat up from 950 miles in a truck 2 weeks ago and it hosts my clowns - but it's still pretty healthy.

What do you think? Here it is last night lit by the 20K setting on a Radion Pro

Here it is a little over a year ago when I started doubting that it was a favia after it puffed up and started growing (under T5):

That's what I thought - I just wanted confirmation! Didn't know if it was echinata or some other less popular acan since the septae are very pronounced and all my other echinatas are much more smooth.
