Found this critter on my glass tonight. After taking pics I went back and noticed that it seemed to have two antennae on the large end. It moved along the glass similar to a snail. It is about 1/2 inch long. Thanks.

It's not a real good photo. The top side would be much better for identification. How about Austraeolis catina? Go to nudipixel.net and try to identify it.

I was thinking maybe nudibranch also. There are 241 genus of nudibranch - will peruse all the pictures and see if I cannot match it. If it shows itself again I will try to get a topside pic. It is out in full light, so will not have to camp at night with a red light. Thanks for the suggestions and link.

I am pretty sure it is a nudibranch. Though, there are 241 genus and over 3000 species so I have not been able to positively identify it yet. Several look close but none are the same. I caught it a little while ago. I turned off the powerhead to feed the coral and it crawled out. When stretched out it is almost an inch long, the two antennae and things on the back are what strongly suggest a nudibranch. Here is the latest picture - shot through a foot of water - not very clear either. Thanks Mike J and reelsilly.

Is there anything near it that you can pinpoint that it might be eating?

I have seen it crawl over zoeys and palys so I think it is the non-carnivorous type. I am thinking of disposing it the next time I see it just be be safe. Nudibranchs live 1 week to 1 year, so if I don't find it again, it might be because it finished it's life cycle. I have my shotgun ready thought. :squigglemouth:

Do you have any caulerpa in our tank?

I have Caulerpa Cupressoides and other macro algae in the tank. But, the problem/question is resolved. The critter was crawling on the front glass. As I was trying to get better pictures of it, my shrimp brushed over it and dislodged it. As it fell through the water it shortened, flattened and widened like a 3/4x1/2 inch ribbon. My female O. Clown grabbed it and ate it. All gone. Thanks everyone. :-)
