I got this coral about 1 month ago and the guy at the LFS didn't know what it was but he thought it was some type of chalice/plate coral. It look hard and plate like at the LFS but since being in my tank has really taken off and grown and now has these projections on it making it look more soft. If the picture doesn't come out well it is blue base with green projections.

I'm on my phone but it looks like a Goni of some kind.
Are those polyps look like flowers?

I think it might be some type of galaxia, my lights are already off for the day. This is the closest I could get off google images which is a galaxea.

Wow I guess I haven't looked at it right after the lights go off but this is what it looks like now (30 min after lights turned off). It looks really bubbly.

Pretty sure its not a Goni, not really flower like.
It won't close when I wave my hand next to it or touch it, Its slowly closing now with the lights off I'll get a pic when it does.

Welcome to r2r btw, its hydnophora

Also keep in mind, dont plan on having any corals next to it, or in its flow path. It can barf out, eat and beat any coral near it. My hydnophora colony cost me almost 500 dollars in frags before i knew this and they were atleast 5-6 inches away from it.

Wow great catch, thanks for identifying it for me and now I know to move it. Most of the ones online look like they encrust but this one looks more plate like, will this plate or encrust from your experience? Also since it is extending do you think I should move it closer to the light? It is at the bottom right now and I have a 29g BioCube with the HQI metal halide top.

They acually grow all different ways, i can tell by the last picture you post is 100% hydnophora. The biocube hqi is acually really really powerful. It can adapt almost to any intensity of lighting but no keep it were it is, if its starting to get brighter and brighter you can move it down a little bit.
