Hi all,

Just home from LFS and found this while acclimatising.

Can anybody tell me what it is and if it's friend or foe?

Thanks

I'm thinking bristleworm. Just hoping for verification
I don’t see any spikes this is a Bristol worm I believe what we have looks more like a earthworm looking one but I’ll wait for expert advice Bc idk nothing about worms

I don't like the way that worm looks. Observe the head. If it looks like this guy, toss it.

If it just has 2 antenna, it's probably a dorville worm. Those are safe. The guy in the picture is a tiny monster waiting to grow up to seek and destroy.

That was from just one little live rock I wanted to get out so I’m amusing they’re are way more

I also noticed that all the Bristol worms died while this one is still alive and kicking I left the rock outside the whole day in a cup without water

Bristle worms are very sensitive , as weird as it maybe. Did you get a good look at the head of the other worm though?

Can’t tell it literally just looks like a worm from the dirt it’s still alive as we speak so I’m guessing it doesn’t need water to live I can’t see it’s head

This was the little piece I pulled out that contained all these worms I just wonder how many are in my real rocks I just hope they aren’t the reason why I’ve lost some corals this past year

But your right I don’t like how this worm looks either it’s freaking me out all the other ones are clearly Bristol worms but this one is strange

I would toss it. If you can't make a possitive id and corals are going missing, you might have a eunicid hiding somewhere.

Looks like detritus worm in which wrasse would tear it apart
