I am wondering both about this mammoth beast of a paly that is going to give me nightmares, and the purple zoos below it.. Thanks!

That is your regular run of the mil palythoa and I would recommend that you remove it ASAP. They are aggressive spreaders and will over crowd anything else near them to the point of choking out their light/space.

Keep in mind that they are tough to get rid of and will grow back from the smallest piece of flesh you may leave behind. Don't worry if you are persistent you will be able to get rid of them over time.

OMG are you serious? I bought that thing thinking it was so cool looking! Is there no name for it? I feel quite dumb. :( That sucks!

maybe I can just keep it on the piece of rubble it is on? or will it float itself around the tank?

thank you!

No it won't float around the tank. If you like it then by all means keep it. They can get a really nice green color to them as well and if you put them on a larger piece of rock rubble it will spread pretty quickly.

does this thing sting? I have a few kinds of smaller zoos but this thing is just scary.. it is like the size of a silver dollar.

I call 'em green button polyps. I have some in my tank that I find quite attractive :) Don't take it out if you like it, it's not a "problem" polyp. Just a matter of preference.

I have several kinds of green buttons & I like them. I give them away & sell the really bright green ones. To each their own tastes.
