So I posted I the tank help section about many of my corals doing poorly after returning from a week vacation. Thread called corals dying? So tonight I went in after the lights were out and spotted some little, maybe 1/8th inch or shorter black/brown creatures (10-15) crawling on my leather. Just wondering if anybody can help ID and let me know if they are harmful. My leather still hasn't opened in the last 4 days since being home. Here are some pics...sorry about the crappy quality..

Pictures here

Hi tinhorse, without the pic it would be very hard to ID.... lol. Anyway, if your corals are not happy after a trip, mist likely due to high nutrient levels. I would suggest doing a WC if 10-20% and then check the parameters. If the levels are still sky high then do some more WC. WC is the most effective and safest way to lower your nutrient levels. Happy reefing and happy new year !

Really hard to tell with those pics but probably amphipods.
I am not expert in fish or critters ID better ask KJ, he knows it all ! ;Stig But i agree, can’t really see anything with those pics... lol

I will try and siphon some out and get a better pic...sorry

They are quick little runners and held on pretty good

Ok that's good. I havent see these guys in my tank before. Many copopods but not these.

I totally agree with amphipods! They may be irritating the coral as they’re a little larger than copepods. Maybe move the leather if possible. Testing would be a good idea as well
