Hi all, just started a new tank (build thread incoming) and I'm starting to grow my first algae. It doesn't really look like the GHA I've seen, and doesn't move in the pretty heavy flow in that area. Am I dealing with bryopsis here?

Tank details:
3 months old, started with live sand and used live rock (purchased from another reefer)

Nitrate: 5ppm, phosphate: 0.1ppm

Inhabitants: Easy corals only for now. GHA, some soft-y frags, Duncan and hammer, no fish or inverts yet.

Feeding reef roids and some flake food to the corals once every 2 weeks to keep the nutrients above 0.

No dosing yet, water changes (10% every 2 weeks) is more than enough to keep levels high for now. Will dose when I get more growth/corals

It's going to get worse. You're entering the ugly phase. Completely normal thing that everyone who uses dry rock goes through. Bolster CuC, manage parameters, dose live phyto, remove excess by hand.

Yeah, no worries, I'm fine with the ugly phase, just making sure nothing is growing in there that I can't get out later. Right now it's easy to break the tank down and clean things out if I need to.

Breaking it down is a nuclear option, same with dosing things that claim to get rid of algae.
