Hey Guys,

I recently noticed these white fuzzy things growing on my sump walls. Hard to tell from the picture, but they look like cone shaped spider eggs or something. Anyone have an idea on what these are?

The image is a bit blurry (or maybe it's my eyes--they don't work as well as they once did), but they look to me like the little sponges known in hobby parlance as "pineapple sponges" or "Q-tip sponges." If that's the case, no need to worry because they're harmless. They can clog up pumps and such if left unchecked, but that's easy enough to prevent with regular maintenance and cleaning.

Jeff, yeah that's exactly what they are! Thanks for the help.

I've got three tanks into one sump and have these in two of the three tanks. The tank without them has a flame angel in it with a few polys. The other two tanks have a pair of clowns in one and a blue jaw trigger in the other. Not sure if the angel is eating them but is the only tank in the system that is clean.

Pineapple Sponges, they're usually a good sign of stability. Keep it up!

Also, the sump is exactly where you want them, theyre good little filter feeders haha. Just make sure you keep pump clear.
