Is this some kind of a sponge? It feels a little spongy to the touch. It doesn't look bad I don't mind having it in my tank was just curious of what it is.

I think you should try to remove some off a test rock to see if it stays gone and complies

Upscale that outcome to what your whole tank will do if left in. Imagine if the test revealed you can't remove it using typical methods if desired... these are critical details in the choice

It's about the size of a quarter its pretty hard to get off. I can't remove the rock. I think I'm going to cover it with a two-part Apoxsee. Thanks for the replies.

I must admit it looked nice in the above pics

For the countless people who lost tanks to one form of rhodophyta or another, which that is, they wish to be back at this very test point you are at. I was trying to offer caution without losing potentially something nice

Any given tang setup might keep that in control nicely, so that it could be farmed out to macro collectors one persons invasion is another persons venture. But if it turns out reactive/persistent then you may not want to culture it, a little testing time imo

A cousin of that took over my nano, red gelidium and asparagopsis were the two

Some tanks do not have them take over and they contribute color balances and pod homes into planted marine tanks

But some have issues, a little test will tell. If things get ugly with it don't forget peroxide, without removing rocks it's possible... we have about 100 cures in the threads of various rho

I noticed this about eight months ago so it grows very slow. I'm not that worried about it. I know I could get rid of it somehow but it kind a looks nice. I put that small frag next to it about 2 months ago. I'm going to see if it starts encrusting over the rock that that it's on. If it does I'll just leave it and if it doesn't I'll figure out a way to get it out.
