I'm a senior in high school and president of our marine biology club. We have a couple of rather large tanks. I've been taking care of them for 4 years and I should know all the species of animals that are living there. Unfortunately, I don't. I know basic species, like we have a beautiful tang, pretty sure it's a powder blue. Anyways, I could use some help in IDing the ones I don't know.

What type of sea cucumber is this?

What type of clownfish is this?

I don't even know what kind of fish he is. We just call him Alvin. He is VERY old.

I have more but the pictures won't upload at the moment. Thanks for reading and commenting!

The clownfish is a clarki.

The tang is a yellow tang.

Alvin appears to be a damsel, but a profile shot would better help id him.

The cucumber, no idea.

Welcome to Reef2Reef, AlmightyKas!

Alvin _might_ be a blue velvet damselfish, as I think I see a pale saddle about halfway down his back. Those guys start out with lovely electric-blue squiggles on their bodies, but the blue fades, leaving... Alvin. Not-quite-black with a pale saddle marking. (He looks immense, prowling above the deck of the Titanic!) The fish in the background of Alvin's photo is a regal blue, or "hippo" tang. (Most of the folks I meet know that one best as "Dory"!)

Your clownfish (and I absolutely agree with EatBreakfast - he's a clarkii) looks like he could use a couple of sandwiches - or perhaps better, a few good feedings of high-quality frozen foods and pellets.

The first photo looks a bit like what's usually called a "tiger tail" sea cucumber, but ... not quite. It's an unusual one, but perhaps not out of the range of individual variation.

Looks as though you've also got some Aiptasia anemones and small feather-duster worms on your reef.

Thanks guys!

I definitely know about the aptasia, I've been trying to get rid of the ones I can reach. The tanks are very large. The Clarkii looked like that when I came in freshman year and I've been feeding him freeze dried krill. He eats it, hides it, and feeds it to his anemone.

Thanks again!!
