Can anyone help ID whatever thus is. It looks like little white pods growing all over the rocks in the sump, all over the skimmer body and all over the walls of the sump. What is it and do I need to get rid of it somehow?

That has been the general consensus. Now, what to do about them. I've been reading that they are beneficial and to just leave them be. But is there such a thing as "to many"?

Pretty sure they’ll eventually die off on their own once their population exceeds whatever it is that’s allowing them to proliferate.

but harmless/good guys in the meantime
