Just found this worm swimming around my tank! I have no clue where it came from or if it’s harmful or not?

I am also attaching a pic of my torch which I am worried has Vermited snails if anyone could help identify that as well.

Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Mike

The second pic does appear to be vermatids. Pull the frag and use a scraper, tweezers, knife, etc to remove the entire shell(s), and rinse well in a container of tank water to make sure the snail body doesn't remain stuck to the frag before returning it to the tank. You CAN also use super glue to block the tubes, but euphyllia skeletons are relatively soft and there's a chance the snail will simply burrow out through the branch and build a new shell somewhere else.

Thanks for the quick responses! Should I be worried there are more of these worms? Or worried about these worms in general?

also I will be scraping the snails off the skeleton in a little bit. Should it be considered to cut the torch off the skeleton or am I throwing away possible new head growth down the line.

I wouldn't worry about that worm. But always take close looks at them. Many look the same. If one pops up looking like a millipede, you may want to be worried.

Anyhow, don't cut the torches skeleton or trim it. They can shatter rather easy. Just remove the snails you see.

Needle nose work very well.

Someone sent me this and it was very helpful for me earlier.

I don’t think it’s a Medusa worm. They look smooth bodied. This has some bristle type siding with multiple antenna

See what you think. I believe a syllida sp.

I mean it’s close. I have it in a cup and will take it to lfs tomorrow and see what they think. But that’s close to what it looks like
