I got a Nikon D40 this weekend and practicing some shots (lots of adjusting to go for sure) if anyone can help with some night/actinic settings that'd be great....anyway during the day I never noticed the red rings on this zoa, so possible UFOs? Thanks!

Yea, def having the camera tuned in will help alot, one thing with DSLR shot's, or atleast for me, is you have to use Manuel setting for most shot's with alot of blue lighting. One thing I do is go into the setting's and then set the w/b and f/s till you have a good mixture of blue with true coral look's to the eye. Another thing is to get a tripod, I hate having a tripod but it saves you alot of headache and also just trial and error with new camera's, if I remember right there is a nice thread I was reading on the board's about shooting reef tank's with DSLR's =)

i have theses guys and have heard them called copper rings or red rings. you can see them in my picture on bottom right

thanks for the IDs and thanks for the camera help. I bought D40 for Dummies and it should be here any day :) I also have rented a macro lens due in Friday and would love some actinic shots so your setting advice is timely to say the least
