ID of something on live rock.

I'm not sure where to post this. Since I have no idea what it is.

I've got these things on 3 of my live rocks around my tank. Was curious to what they are. They look like some type of polyp of some kind.

Looks like it coold be anthelia also? Either way it will spread like crazy and will smother those zoas. Move the zoas and keep the rock in an area by itself......trust me!

It looks more like Xenia but all the pictures. They aren't very big at all. Gonna try and figure out a way to confine them either way. Don't really want them.

Excluding color, it has the exact shape of sympodium. Voting anthelia though - have seen that in plague proportions in some tanks.

Either Xenia or anthelia, anyone know the best way to remove it?

I was thinking either coral gluing them shut, reef epoxy to seal the hole, or scrap them out.

I would just rough them up a little with my fingers until they close up/retract and then smother them with some epoxy. It would be like putting chewed up bubble gum over them.

I have tons of Xenia and this isn't Xenia, this is anthelia. As it grows, it will get much large stems. I agree with the above statement

Improve your water quality

You can simply cover them with a rock and starve them of light. You don't want to rough them up, they will release (spores?) and they will colonize in another location. It's best to starve them of light. Then they will just melt away slowly. They won't reproduce that way either. Hope that helps!
