Id on Algea

I have been in this hobby for many years and this algea stumps me, I have never seen it before. It is in my friends tank. The algea starts as white tubes then turns green in a week or so. Any id help would be greatly appreciated. A critter that would clean it up would also be nice to know
 
It dies for people who want it and lives for people who don't.

What salt does your friend use? Rumor has it that salt with a lot of boron causes it to thrive.
 
That stuff looks awesome. It’d make a great lawn for a planted tank display fuge.
