need an ID on this macro and a natural way to eradicate it. I refuse to put a tang in my tank and all fish go through a 3 month QT so an invert would be preferable. I'm thinking its some type of sea grass

I believe it's a type of caulerpa since it grows the same way. Had it pop up randomly in one of my tanks. Sorry but the only thing that devoured it was a blue tang and/or a fox face rabbit fish. I don't have crabs in my system but maybe try an emerald crab.

Good luck that stuff takes over fast.

Caulerpa brachypus or prolifera most likely. Brachypus in intolerant of intense light, but that's the only possibly helpful info i can give as far as eradication. Both are extremely invasive species in the wild.

Must be the other than. It gets pretty intense lighting throughout the day. My reef is Sps dominant. I may try a rabbitfish of some sort or even roll the dice with an emerald crab to see if it may eat it
