Ok yeah definitely dont want that .. no clue where it came from .. thank youLooks like Aptasia, I'd get rid of it ASAP
Oh man i will research all 3! I thought the brown color was diatoms because its a fairly new tankYep, Aiptasia. Several different management strategies on this blog. BTW, air bubbles and what looks to be red slime might indicate dinoflagellates and cyanobacteria - probably want to research those pests while you're at it.
Good luck; pest management is part of reefing
+1 for Cyano. For the diatoms/dinos, try brushing it off the rock. If it comes off as a powder or disperses, it’s most likely diatoms. If it comes off in strings, it’s dinosOh man i will research all 3! I thought the brown color was diatoms because its a fairly new tank
So this is my settings for my light cycle .. do you think its too much? Thank you again guys for the information+1 for Cyano. For the diatoms/dinos, try brushing it off the rock. If it comes off as a powder or disperses, it’s most likely diatoms. If it comes off in strings, it’s dinos
Phosphate pretty much non existentI used a 1 micron sock bought from Amazon to siphon out dinos and then returned water to tank. Most reefers also find that a properly sized UV light is very effective, especially against ovata species.
No one has asked, so I will: what are your readings for nitrate and phosphate? If they are very low another tactic is to raise them by feeding more or dosing.
Some reefers add bacteria during the day and 1 ml/10 gal of h202 at night.
