Could I get an ID on the name of this zoo? It fell off a colony in a LFS and I asked about the sale. With luck it turned out to be a freebie but I did by another colony in the tank which is a nice blue with a hairy skirt like jelly fish.

button polyps bleached out?
No way.......ugh, the whole rock at the LFS looked like these. These were pretty hardy to glue to the plug last night then opened today. So I'll have to wait a week or two for then to either color up or die. I'll opt for the first.

look like maybe a faded grandis to me. they want just die, they should color up for you

It might still color up to be something really nice though. One of my favorite corals is my button polyp colony, and these started out drabbish brown.

Faded and a chance to color up sounds positive to me. I'm patient and will look forward to the change, day by day. Nothing happens fast in a reef tank except a leak.

Wow kigs sweet, something to look forward too, they do look good.

I got the same ones over the summer & they still look like this (color in the pic is a bit off though):

They are a beautiful yellow-green & really pop in my tank!

They typically get the name palythoa grandis and sometimes get the name cinnamon grandis.
Excellent, as I googled the palythoa grandis, cinnamon grandis. I found exactly what they are and how they will look. A very well worth paly to grow out with the rest of the zoos and later share with other enthusiasts if they're interested.
Thanks to everyone the responded to my question for an ID, much appreciated.

Like I said, I've had these for quite some time now & they have only gotten brighter yellow-green (not a bit of "morphing" going on here). No other markings on them. Also seem very slow growers (although they do like to eat). 2 new polyps in about 6 months.

Lol……hey Jerry, you found me here, I shouldn’t be surprised to see you here. Must be a good place here settling in with a bunch of zoo-nuts. Nice place you guys got here.
