See attached. I have this growing in spots only on my live rock and on my hermit crab's shell. I think it might be Cotton Candy Algae, but I'm not experienced enough to know for sure. It's been spreading slightly faster than my pink coralline. Brushing seemed it to not remove it, but it did brush off the detritus and now it looks like a purple hue of pink. Snails, crabs, and shrimp don't seem to touch it. My Nitrates are in fact high, but I've been trying to correct that by doing more water changes and adding in macros to my display tank.
Is there any downfall to having it though? I kind of like the look of it.
