hey everyone - I asked a question about this without a picture and I was told it's a sponge? However it's growing pretty fast - I just want to make sure it's good!

Sponges are harmless filter feeders. If you don't like it, you can scrape it off or squirt hot RODI water on it to destroy it.

It's a sponge. You don't need to remove it

No. Only time I remove it is if it surrounds any coral but just enough to give the coral some room.
