I have had this fish for about a year. Occasionally it would have one, maybe two small darker spots pop up and disappear. Maybe every couple months. Nothing like this though.

Parameters:
Temp 77.5-78 (apex controlled)
SG - .025 (ato in place to keep stable)
Ph - 8.2
Alk - 9.8
Calc - 430
Mag - 1280
No3 - 4.0
Po4 - .04

Major changes in the last few weeks was a move to a larger display system. Made sure water was buffered to same levels as original tank (ie temp, salinity, pH, alk, calc, mag etc.)

All live rock, corals, clean up crew and other fish made the move as well. Plus most of the support equipment such as dosers, reactors and the like. Including cheato from the original sump. Did not reuse the old sand however.

All additional rock and sand was dry. Rock was cured and cycled for 4 weeks in heated and circulated container.

I did add a small CUC that was ordered online to help with the film algae on rocks an glass.

3 days ago this was not present, and I have been keeping a very close eye on everything since the move!

None of the other fish show any signs of it, even the other tangs.

Hoping someone can give a positive ID? Looks like turbellaria (sp?) or black spot disease to me, but only from what Ive seen on searches this morning.

Have you added any new coral lately? It could be either one of two things, either stings from a coral, or black ich. Is anyone else showing any symptoms?

Only new corals added in the last few months are couple of monti cap pieces, and 3 Favia type frags on the sand bed. And, no, so far no-one else is showing any symptoms at all. And I have 3 yellow Tangs that I feel would really show up on very easily. But like I said, didn't notice this yesterday on the Sailfin. So it's popped up extremely quickly whatever it is.

So after reading, I am going to treat the system with Prazi. I have several tangs, so I hope this will help stem the tide as it were. Also, I read its fairly reef safe. I have hermits, a fire shrimp and assorted snails. There are the occasional tube worm feather dusters (those little red ones on the dark side of the rocks) but thats it other than sps, lps and some soft corals. Should I be worried about any of those in your opinion? Thank you for any info. I am going to continue my research as well here and on the Google on the med.

So long as you don’t have mass quantities of bristleworms, tiny feather dusters, etc. you should be safe from an ammonia spike.

Sometimes SPS (mostly Monticaps) and anemones will bleach a little after dosing Prazipro, but they usually bounce back.
