ID PLEASE! Is it some sort of fast growing white algae?

Hi, Just noticed this white stuff growing on my larger base rock today. I didn't notice it yesterday so I think it is growing really, really fast. It seems to be firm, maybe even rubbery. Could it be some type of algae or sponge? Anyone recognize it? Given its fast rate of growth I'm concerned that it will get out of control in no time. Uploaded a photo (not the best - sorry!). Thanks for any help in identifying this.

Thanks for getting back to me and I hear you about the pic. I tried taking a few more photos. Hope these pics are somewhat better. Can a sponge grow so quickly? Thanks.
