now their webs irritate all corals, best method is to pull out all corals/rocks that have them and crush them completely.
you can also dab superglue onto their tubes, but this isn’t as effective as outright annihilating them

its interesting how many have them in abundance. My tank and substrate is well over 15 years old and this is the first time i've noticed them. Maybe i've been blind all this time... Under the spyglass I used to take photos and film it, it looked pretty awesome, they are definitely interesting little critters, almost look like Tremors (i may have dated myself with that reference...:-0)

I wouldn't say that they irritate zoanthids, but rather that they may temporarily disturb them, causing them to briefly close until the disturbance is gone. A curious fish can have the same effect on zoanthids and many LPS corals.
And really, I do not understand people who feel the need to eradicate critters like this. They are natural reef inhabitants, and the more diversity of life you have in your tank, the more healthy it probably is. The populations of almost all reef creatures is self-regulating. If a population of one species is becoming overgrown, check your husbandry first.
