It's a snail operculum. What larger snails do (did) you have?

Thanks. I’ve only added a few turbos, 5 or 6, over a couple years. I think maybe one has not kicked the bucket the others rarely last longer than 3-4 months.

Did something break apart the shell like an emerald crab or something?

No, the snail died and the operculum fell off.
