In checking out my tank today, I saw this guy crawling around, and didn’t know what it was, so I sucked it out quick to take a pic of to ask to for help identifying. Thanks in advance.

Is it appropriate to “bump” my own post? I don’t know what the rules of this kind of stuff are anymore.

Anyways, whatever this was is dead now because I left him out of my tank, and my tank is at work, and I didn’t work today. Just would like to know what it is in case I find anymore in the future. Thanks in advance.

Hi,hope all is ok.
It's shame no one answered you to get a positive id.
Maybe no one knew so didnt answer.
And no rules I know off where cant bump your own thread to get an answer to something.
I don't know what it is but odds are in favour of it just being a bristle worm but first picture you can see a band near its head so could be a eunuch worm of some sort but you would of noticed how scary its mouth looked if eunuch worm as they are the stuff of nightmares .
Ha ha
Hopefully someone will give you a more positive id.im just answering so someone answers you ^_^

The only rules about bumping that I know of are regarding trying to sell something.
I'm not positive but it could be a dorvillidae worm. You can look up pics and see if it looks the same.

I'm following because I'm interested as well. I tried zooming in on the pics but they went fuzzy on me. Look up "Bobbitt worm". Did the head look like that? If so it's a good thing you got it out.

I'm no expert on these worms, but I often have a hard time telling a difference between young eunicid and dorvilleidae worms. I believe it's best to tell by the mouth parts, if it has a nasty set of jaws then definitely trash it. Dorvilleidae have more of what look like whiskers to me. I think it is most likely a dorvillidae, but I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a definitive ID, since again I'm no expert.

Just saw the post… hard to tell from pics but could be dorvillidae (ok) or baby eunice (not ok)

I also often find dorvilleidae worms on the glass in my tank, and I doubt eunicid worms would be found on the glass (just a guess since I've never had one). That's just from my experience and may not be significant.
