Looks like a chiton to me. Is it staying put and changing spots only slowly? Relatively nonreactive to movement or even touch?

I never touch things I don’t know, I’ve divorced once already.
It moved into a hole in about 45 seconds when I shinned a light on it. I guess I’ll tap it with something the next time I see it. But I think I saw it moving over the rock and it looked flexible.
