I would say it's a Porites species. The species are really tough to distinguish apart because the differences that lye in the corallite structure.

Most Porites tend to look good under extreme amounts of light and water flow. Being brown i would suggest gradually moving it in the full light. I have had mounding species of Porites that i bought brown before and eventually got them very close to the halide lamp and it developed A yellow base, green rim and neon pink spots on the very top. But that took some time, like 6 months.
ok thank you he said he got it as a hitchhiker on a bunch of coral and it was cheap so i thought id give it a try thats what i thought it might be but was unsure
