Found this on the underside of some live rock and it spit water out the first time it came out of the water. The pink mass in the center is what I'm curious about.

I'm thinking more of a tunicate or "sea squirt."
 
A sea squirt will have two siphons. But I think what you have there is commonly called a liver sponge.
 
It does appear to have two siphons. Either option it's safe to leave in the tank right?
