I thought it might be brown hair algae, but the growth pattern is throwing me off. The picture is after using a firm toothbrush to scrape the rocks. It's extremely difficult to remove at the "root".

I was hoping the pictures would be clearer' but the algae in question grows in tufts.
 
Hmmm that's really puzzling because it's a low nutrient system. Everything tests at zero with salifert and I make my own ro/di
 
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It must be an error on my end.
 
Could also be green turf algae if it's hard to remove. GHA typically brushes off with a toothbrush.
