Just looking at things and saw this today in my sump. Looked as closely as I could at DT and through the sump.... this is the only one I could see. ( the little anemone looking thing) . No new additions to the tank for 4 months and no corals except a patch of palys that came with the tank.

That was my first thought also but then I ask myself how in the heck did it get there I mean there is no additions to that tank, no new rock changes since six months ago. I have no problem pulling that thing out of there and and scraping it off if that's what it is. I just am at a loss of how it could've got there though . And only one I could find.

I think they reproduce from spores don't think it would've been seen before, seems very small an new

I vote aptasia. Get it out of there. If you're going to scrape it off, make sure to cover what's left with some super glue or putty.

I started a new tank with new sand and dry rock. While cycling my first inhabitant was an Aiptasia. I was very careful about not cross contaminating from another tank, but there it was. I've read about a couple of others having the same issue. Keep after them and you can really control their growth, I also find some Peppermint shrimp help with the small ones. If you can take the rock out, i would just burn it and rinse. If you can't, a mixture of calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide seems to take care of them. Good luck!

I can easily get the rock out... it's in my sump. Burn as in fire burn?? Or chemical? I have a nice propane torch!!
