Can anyone tell me what this is and if i should remove it? Been watching it for a while but now it finally opened its head.

Looks like brown/green button palys. Its good to keep these isolated on an island as they are very aggresive growers.

Use a pair of forceps and peeling it away from the rock. If any flesh is left it will grow back. So try to cover the remaining flesh with some superglue or epoxy.

Super glue GEL. Not the runny liquid type. If you can get the rock out its ideally better to apply. The water and glue wont mix. Once it touches water it makes a skin.

I wanna avoid taking it out as its my base rock that holds up all my scape
