Looking at my tank this morning and do I s this under my rock. The shrimp has been at it all morning and is picking at it. I'm thinking it's a sponge maybe?

Without the blues on. It's like white and has yellow going through it as well. In the picture is under the shroom on the rock.

That's what I figured. Just kinda surprised me because I never saw it. My hands are always wet with this nano. Also didn't see that I have a couple feather dusters this morning as well. Just crazy. I've had the tank for maybe 4-5 months. Feels like I'm finding something new in it every week.

Yeah I'm trying to do it right this time around. First time I got into the hobby I was topping off with tap water. If that gives you any idea of what I knew about the hobby. Now I have a rodi unit and water changes are every Saturday. So far it's doing great.

Only thing is I am a bit heavy handed with food and nutrients. 10 gallon tank. Probably feed a 1/4 cube of pe mysis every day or a pinch of pe pellets if I'm lazy. I also dose .03 ml of Fuel every day at lights off. So far no crazy algae growth. But I have had crazy growth in my zoas/palys as well as all my LPS. They have all been in for about the same time and they are spitting and forming new heads. My encrusting monti I've frag once already and it's growing like wildfire.

Some nutrients are good. Seeing your strict with your maintenance routine and feeding your tank is say that's one of the things that's helping in your success. I'm a heavy feeder as well but I never stray from my maintenance routine. We all learn somehow my friend, my very first tank was started and maintained with tap water and prime:confused:

Yeah as the saying goes. If it's not broke don't fix it. I run a decent amount of filtration as well. It's only a 10 gallon. I'm getting a jbj cube setup by the end of this year. But as of right now. I actually run 2 hobs one with purigen and 1 with chemipure. A powerhead and I run a airblock skimmer. I guess all of it on top of weekly changes keeps everything in check. Some of my buddies think I have too much flow but the tank is thriving.

Lol well at least you were putting prime in. I didn't even have the knowledge of that. Like I said this time around I'm trying to do it right. I'm trying to convince a buddy of mine right now to stop using tap water. He said since he had success with it last time he's just going to keep using tap. I've offered to make him ro water. He's only taken it once -sigh-

I know right!
Tap water and prime is nothing, my first tank had aiptasia in live rock and I started feeding them so they would grow faster and tried to sell to local LFS before I figured out how bad they were,:( the guys were laughing at me at the LFS but I was so excited because I thought I was going to make some extra cash on some unique corals:D, this was my early days starting out in saltwater with lack of research and too much excitement!;Drool

I had freshwater growing up and I went into a pet store and saw z coral beauty angelfish for the first time and was amazed. Priced at 65 dollars so it was quite a while ago, lol. I literally left the store with the coral beauty and a bag of instant ocean. I'll never forget the excitment I had and thinking, you got this. Thus started my salt water addiction! As for aptasia farming, I'm sorry that didn't work out for you @KJ;)

Yeah he's already had 1 or two. He's been buying CUC in hopes to clean it up. His gf asked me for Christmas ideas. I sent her a link to the RODI buddie in hopes she buys it.
