Found in a filter pad when rinsing during water change. 4 corals and two fish. Tank is not very old.

Doesn't look like a critter I've ever seen. Possibly a house bug that fell in your water and died and got trapped in your filter pad? I've had that before with those pesky box elder bugs. #reefsquad @KJ

That was the first thought in my head. With the exception of one of those back legs looks paddle like. Started with liverock?
 
Man, I have no clue but what I can tell you is, dead or alive, I would never have picked it up XD
 
beetle for sure.livin in md i get stink bugs in the tank all the time. probably no need for the orkin man
 
Not a mantis.

Given it's dead, probably an insect from somewhere else in your house. If it were alive, I'd have suggested some kind of isopod. A photo of the bottom of the thing would help to confirm.

I am with the house bug thought. Keep on the look out though! If they pop up more it may be a weird little bug..
