Just pulled this little fella out of my tank.

Approximately 1” long.

It could have only come in on a Frag. I started with all clean rock.

It looks like a feather duster that lost it's tube and crown.

That’s exactly what it is!

I had a feather duster growing on a shell and a large hermit took the shell

Thanks Lovemyreef2015!

Not a feather duster which would have bilateral rows of appendages flanking the sides rather than 4 rows or "feet". The part that looks like a missing crown are actually oral feeding tentacles. In addition since it was found in the sand (I assume buried with it's head sticking out) it is likely a species of burrowing cucumber. I wish I could ID genus or species for you but I've never really paid too much attention to their taxonomy

Looks like a feather duster without a crown to Me? If you do find the genus of cucumber post a pic. These ID are really neat and helpful. I'ts the unusual things that are really interesting.

I'm sorry but this is not a cucumber. Here are two more examples of feather duster worms that are not in there tube. These ones still have their crown but like pictured above you can see what they look like without a crown.

@mta_morrow let's settle this once and for all lol. From a biological perspective this fits the anatomy of a sea cucumber. Do you think you could provide a good picture of the head for us. That will be the deciding factor. As @Lovemyreef2015 showed us with the pictures, feather worms have a sort of flap of "skin" between their crowns and the rest of their bodies, while sea cucumbers do not. I think a closeup of that head/crown would do us all justice

Well, I had put it back in the tank.

But, for the sake of reefers everywhere, I wil try to find it and take some good pics.

And a selfie with it too![emoji41]
