Hi! So I have this green soft algae that started out in one little spot and now it’s growing in a bunch of spots all over my rock. I’m not sure what it is and I’m hoping it’s not something horrible. Still pretty new to this. Thanks!

green hair algae and very common in new tanks.
it needs high intense light along with lot of exposure to light (which most all tanks have)
nitrates and phos to grow on (which all new tanks have in abundance)
cut feeding reduce light hours and rid nitrates and phos.

on second close look (thanks @cloak) it does look like Ulva another type of algae with same requirements and same way to rid off. snails and tangs can consume most algae btw.
