Starting to get an algae layer and tryin to figure out what it is. It’s only growing on rocks not the sand
Tank cycled 4 months w/ live sand and dry rock, first time for algae growth. Had a bit of the tank uglies with diatoms lasting a couple weeks, then everything settled.

Looks like new tank uglies, typically goes away on it's own.

It’s just a form of microalgae due to your tank being so new and with elevated levels of nutrients. As long as its not filamentous, I would not be too overly concerned! Nature taking its course!

Ok thanks so there could be multiple stages of tank uglies and it’s not much of a concern. Except this really isn’t that ugly. I kinda like having a bit of color.

Coralline algae will be growing in no time

That’s even better! I was going to buy a bottle to kick start coraline, but will wait and let it happen naturally.
