Any idea of what this is? Some pieces are single strands and really long. Mostly looks like doghair never seen this stuff before

I’ve been reefkeeping off and on for almost 10 years and I’ve never seen this stuff before. After googling what you posted above it kindof makes sense as to how I got it if indeed thats what it is. I ordered a clean up crew from a vendor in Florida. My guess is those waters host this bacteria because of all the pesticide contaminated waters. Will it run its course as part of the “ cycling” process or should I nuke it with chemiclean or similar?
 
It tends to disappear when the benthic bacterial flora develops and balances the environment or when the excess nutrients start to run out. Adding bacterial blends, those used for cycling acceleration, or some carbon source, such as vinegar, may help in this process; Chemical treatments should be the last option on the table.
