Whelks are a predatory snail towards other snails. They usually cruise around the glass and the rock work rather than burying themselves in the sand like a Nassarius

just an update, not sure if you guys no pagojoe from another website (wont name) but he said its a cronia or one of the overlapping genera and i should probably remove. i do have it in my refugium.

just lost my 2 really big Mexican turbo snails, i wonder if this much littler guy was the cause.

Also take a look at the siphonal canal. The family that was given to you on the other site has a canal that is closed or nearly closed. Even with the snail body out, I feel like that canal is open.

You know a lot about snails too
I’ll check when I find it

It’s in my 55 gallon fugium so might take me a couple weeks

Haha thank you! I don’t know a whole lot. I have a few helpful books. I’ve just started a new job a few weeks ago where I ID benthic species, so whenever I see a post like this I feel the need to challenge myself.

Gastropods are so hard to identify though! If you do find it and get more pictures I can show my trainer at work :)

Narrow siphon canal and trap door on body confirms it...sump or dump.
