Newbie here, Hi, have a biocube 32, stock pump and a power head, been up and running almost 3 months now, CUC is active, couple of clowns, a blennie, cleaner shrimp, I have been watching the tank get uglier and uglier with different types of algae, from what I`ve read, all part of the process, but I dont know what these 2 patches are, the red is at the bottom in a not very active water flow spot, is it cyan? the other patch is right at the top, its look silver/purple with possible bubbles, the light setup is 11-7 (1) 10:30-9:30 (2) 7-11 (3), I am running a hydor slim skim in chamber 1, filter floss, purigen and chemipure in chamber 2, the intank refurgium (light is on over night) with rock rubble, chaeto and ulva also in chamber 2, heater in chamber 3, all my parameters are good (calcium is on the high side, I use Oceanic Salt)

Looks like cyano to me, especially with the tank being so new. I would just ride it out and maybe increase the flow to the more stagnant areas!

Green algae is not Harmful that’s a good sign and red algae I think that’s diatoms that have been there for a long time

This is only location with what looks like bubbles, I have some GHA that the CUC is taking care of

The algae feeds off of silica in the water if you want to get rid of it you can get a poly filter that would take the silica out of the water and it would slowly go away but that’s if you want it to go away

if you see any brown algae with bubbles on top get rid of them they are harmful to your tank

The top rock with the purple/silvery stuff can be removed and cleaned, would anyone suggest that, the other stuff though no chance, I do have a green killing machine coming after the holidays as someone suggested once to have to help control the never ending battle of algae
