Not sure what this is. It is kind of hard on the top. Hope you can ID it with these pics.

Chiton

Chiton's are great! A not too common character who grazes on algae and has a really really cool shape which is nice to keep track of in the tank :)
Good news! I was scared for a minute! It’s going back to the tank then, thank you very much

It’s a limpet but similar
Also a reef safe algae eater

It didn’t look like a limpet to me. It’s a little bit larger and different shape to the kind of conical shape the limpet has. But again, had no idea what it was. Thanks!

I just had to type a memo on my computer at work and looked at your pics and see the multi layers on the shell- chiton it is

The Chitons have more flexible shells, also when you take it out of the water it will curl a bit. Limpets can't (on the photos it don't look like curling)

Can agree with both of you.
But w/o closer photos can't confirm it. @vetteguy53081 looking closer on second photo the shell isn't looking like chiton one, more like you say prev post Limpet. The top look like chiton, but no at the bottom.
Can you get photo on the side when it's upside down ?

Fortunately they both have same behaviors and reef safe . 2nd pic is what I went by and realized it was the underneath

Limpets typically have a single shell plate vs Chitons which have 8 plates. I was able to make out 8 from the first picture.

Sorry I can’t, it is already back in the tank.

Yes- me too
There are several similarities also with them

It did curl. Actually it curled end to end, in half.
that I was looking for ;)
100% chiton. Sorry, just the limpets have so many and different shapes, also the coloration vary, can be mistaken in similarities. but if it's curling, can be only Chiton.
