New cycled aquarium. I thought was brown algae, diatom. But this seems to be too big. Anyone can help on how to get rid of it?

Are the tips feathery? That might mean it is bryopsis. I am not sure if bryopsis grows from the sand. Most pictures I have seen show bryopsis growing on rocks.

Otherwise, it looks like some kind of algae from what I have seen, but I hope those with more experience can help you out.

Also, it may be part of what most call the "uglies" of a new tank and will probably disappear in time.

Yes, that's I'm affraid of. I think it came from new frags I put on the system sometime ago. It has some on the rocks too, but on the corner of the aquarium it has grown very quickly...

Could be a type of turf algae. If you can, slightly reduce lights and keep on doing water changes. How’s the flow in your tank?

Hi there, thanks for your reply, My tank is cube of 100 liters and I have two loclines and also I circulation pump, pulsing 1000 liters per hour (aprox). It is interesting to notice that the corner where this algae has grown more is that is below/behing of the circulation pump, so I believe circulation has a place in this thing. Reduncing light is more complicated because I have a few SPS that I´m proud they are going well.. reducing lights may affect them , I think. A have a AI 16HD and I provide a ramp up curve , but I confess, during de day I push I little on whites...

If your SPS are happy, don’t alter the schedule. I also use the AI 16, and I’m a huge fan! Perhaps you can copy it as a preset and reduce the whites red and greens?
