I found this on my return pipe, any ideas? Maybe a sponge..

I can't help with the id but I can say that looks exactly what I have growing throughout my system... they only grow in areas of the overflow or sump that aren't illuminated. Leading me to believe its a sponge. Idk. They aren't hurting anything as far as I can tell

I’d say a pineapple sponge if the shape was a little different. Did it flatten out after you removed it?

It was pretty flat to begin with. I just removed it for now. Always fun finding things in the tank that you didn't put in.

How big is that? Hard to tell exactly from the picture.
