also blue ridge is very hardy and I think is technically not an sps but a softie (although classifications aren't very technical...)
It is hard though...kind of an interesting coral
 
if you break it the inside will be blue if its blue ridge. try snipping a bit off

I didn't think about that. That would be an easy way to rule out Heliopora. I have one and the polyps look nothing like the coral in question here though. The pic on LA's site looks more like the pic posted here.

Definitely Heliopora sp.
I have tons running rampant throughout display tanks. Be careful, it is a very steady grower, and may make it difficult for other corals in it's path! Will change structure based on water flow (or lack thereof). Sequester it on it's own island; not to be trusted (kinda like Pachyclavularia sp)!
 
I scraped it and is white, all calcium.

I'm still thinking blue ridge or something in that family. Only time will tell. Let it grow out and see what it does and congrats on an interesting coral
