ID Plz. Pods?

Looks to be pods scurrying around. A cheap kids microscope would be the way to go to know what kind.

Yeah I think I must've just had some kind of hatching! They showed up over night!

Do you know what Magnification I need for Pods/Dinos in general?

Look like copepods. Congrats

Thanks! Yeah seems like a hatching occurred last night.

They’re common in newer tanks. Many people will buy them to keep adding. Refugiums are also a great place to house them. I, personally, can’t keep them. It seems my fish and inverts eat them the moment they appear.

I use the below and can ID osteo Dino’s with ease as well as a lot of other things. Pods would be super easy with the lower levels. I think 20x-40x should be fine for pods.

Yeah, I've seen something of a sort happen like this with every tank I've kept at some stage.

I'm familiar with pods and their roles but just this time around, I'm being super cautious about pests etc. Just wasn't sure if there was some pod looking type pest I'd have to be weary of as well haha.

Obviously I think it's impossible to stop a complete invasion of every pest ever, but I'm trying my best :P.

I'd hate for something I could've avoided with smarts and husbandry to be the reason I end up losing on this tank.

I've very little livestock as of right now 3 fish total in a 45 (2 of them are clowns :P). So I'm hoping they can build a healthy colony over the next couple of months before I add more of their higher ups on the food chain. I'm planning on eventually keeping a dragonet of some kind. So Might try to scoop some and cultivate them.

I'm setting a little up a phyto cultivation system piece by piece, from what I know with a simple Inline tubing T. I could just push some air into another bottle/jar and cultivate pods.

Wow that little huh?

I was about to buy a $150 2500x
Works for me just fine. I also believe there are quite a few people in the million mile long Dino thread who use that one.

Although, I am cheap lol. There would be no issue with the 2500x one either. A buddy has one and it is awesome. Much better than my “toy” one, but again, me being cheap, the one I have fits my needs lol.
