Waterbox 110.4 mixed reef, 5 months old. Have about 14 fish, just added 6 green chromis about a week ago. Established female clownfish recently developed whitish patches near dorsal fin. Trying to ID any problems early. Parameters pH 7.98 alk 8.8, NH3 0, nitrates 5, phosphate 0.34, all pretty stable. I did add GFO to filter bag about a week ago as phosphate was reading 0.65.

Any thoughts? I have not quaratined any fish but fish were treated with copper for several weeks at LFS before purchase. Rest of fish look fine.

This may very well be onset for brooklynella which is a known clown disease. Immediately give it a freshwater dip for temporary relief and plan on giving it a formalin bath which they respond to very well. One form of formalin is API quick cure. Ruby Rally reef pro also works well, but a little slower and is Reef Safe. The most noticeable symptom of Brooklynella is the heavy amount of slime that is produced by a fish that has contracted this parasite. As the disease progresses, a thick whitish mucus covers the body. This will usually start at the head and spread outward across the entire body. Skin lesions appear and it is not uncommon for signs of secondary bacterial infections.
Typical treatment is a standard formalin solution is mixed with either fresh or saltwater in a separate treatment container. Initially, all fish are given a quick dip in the formalin at a higher concentration, followed by continued treatment in a prolonged bath of formalin at a lower concentration in a quarantine tank (QT). Of course, the longer the fish are exposed to the formalin treatment, the more effective it will be at eliminating this disease.
If a formalin solution is not available for immediate use, temporary relief may be provided by giving fish a FW bath or dip. Even though this treatment will not cure the disease, it can help to remove some of the parasites, as well as reduce the amount of mucus in the gills to assist with respiration problems.
Treatment is best done in a QT tank.

That's very helpful, will get a hospital tank set up today just in case. Recommend isolating clown and watching before treating with formalin, or just go ahead with it?
