purple and leafy like cabbage or lettuce. My 180 tang tank is running fallow now and since the fish absence it has steadily grown. In that time, (over 2 months now) it's the size of a child's first. Kind of cool.

It's darker than that but looks similar I suppose, larger "leaf". It sways in the current though

I'm thinking sponge; can you get a better picture?
I will try a few more - it's deep in the tank where good photos are very tough.

It's definitely a plant, very leafy and feels like a macro algae

Is it truly purple, or is it red that looks purple under your lighting.

To me it looks like "Rose Petal" that is a red macro algae. Grows sheet like, sometimes it looks kind of spotted.

It truly looks purple. It has areas that are more bleached purple, too.

Sorry photos are so bad will try to take photo with a digital camera and not my iPhone

I'll look thru my threads. Had something similar that did get ID in 1 of them. See if I cant find it.
