As you can see there is some kind of black encrusting sponge i'm guessing on this frag plug, the zoas slowly started closing a little more each day and havent opened in about 2-3 days.
Anything I can do? razor blade?

Finger and fingernail.
Or ball point pen. Should come of very easy.

I dunno, now that i've pulled and tried to get it off it really seems like its under the zoa's mat thing. i wonder if its some kind of bacteria. I have it in reef dip and will update in a few days if anything changes.
Sponge I belive. Black is common in zoas. And it may get under the mat yes. A bacteria will rinse off.

Any other suggestions for solution? It definitly won't come off mechanically. (What I'm willing to try). I rinsed it in r.o water as well. H. Peroxide do anything?

Well, to be honest, I don’t think that’s what’s making the zoas close up. The black white and yellow sponges I get on my zoas has to get pretty deep over the polyp to make em not open.
If it’s not coming off with a finger or toothbrush, I’m not sure I know what it is.

Ok i appreciate the response. They've been in the tank about a month prior to this event and i have 5 other zoa frags near by that are growing. Guess I'll just have to try a couple things and cross my fingers.
No sweat , that’s pretty odd.
