ID Sponge help.

This guy started out about an inch long 6 months ago and has grow to this size. What is it exactly? and should I remove it?

Looks more like a type of macro algae.

+1 on the ID. If you like it leave it, as long as you dont add any macro algae eaters in the tank. They look cool IMO.
