I was told this is a purple bonzi by the person i traded with but was told other wise but some local guys.

What do you think it is?

NIce Bob, but I think it is too small to get an accurate ID. Post it in the ID thread on RC. Chris @ Reefer Madness is a wiz at IDing SPS.

it may be the bonzai, but like 143gadgets said, its way too small to id.

It's sure behaving like Bonzai. It really encrusts quite a bit before it starts to grow out. If it's the realy thing it's got a long way to go as far a color goes though. (what a strange sentance)

I agree. It looks and behaves very much like a garf purple bonsai (encrusting, then growing, etc.). When it grows up a little, post another pic.

Did the person you got it from say it was the Garf purple bonsai, or just a purple bonsai? I got a Marshall Island purple bonsai a little over a year ago at a frag swap in Chattanooga and it was a dead wringer for the Garf (had both), but without the lineage, of course.

Alls i heard was purple bonsai, but i can ask again. Actually not sure if anyone knows the guy, he is on RC, named Moga. Came from his tank.

I have a piece of the Garf Purple Bonsai that has encrusted onto a rock, but hasn't put on any vertical growth yet. Looks like your pic, fwiw.
