I fell in love with this at the LFS. They called it a "giant acan." I figure it's probably something more like a meat coral or scoly? I wasn't too worried about its true ID because the basic care for acans and meat corals are similar, but I am curious. Anybody know what exactly this sparkly doughnut might be? Thanks!

I’m definitely no expert on these types of corals but since the store called it a large acan, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is an acan bowerbanki. I know the individual polyps on them can get fairly large.

Bump! I know it's been a while, but I'm still wondering what this is. It's grown nice and fluffy, but hasn't split or anything. Any ideas?

Probably Homophyllia sp.

Acanthastrea bowerbanki was reclassified as Homophyllia bowerbanki in 2016.
